It all began with many of us meeting at The Albion for dinner. A mum's group for those of us delivering between the last weeks of July through August. Mum's group. I had no idea what to expect however I can honestly say that I did not expect to find a group of women that I would be so pleased to call my friends.
I suppose that I was expecting a group of women where conversation would be strained, focused solely on babies and how wonderful they were doing. I don't know why I was so pessimistic about it...the White Underbelly would chime in here and say that I am generally Woe-Is-Me about new things (I would have to agree, though I am trying to change that aspect about myself) and also, I am not one of those women who do not have other girlfriends (I LOVE my girls). So, I do not know why I went to that first dinner with such trepidation or reluctance.
Whatever the original reluctance was, I am SO HAPPY that I dragged my huge self out that night and to all subsequent events and even more once Ronan was born and in our lives, that I continued to meet with the group. The numbers dwindled some and now the core group of us remain and talk about everything baby as well as ourselves, future plans...life. I am honored to call them my friends.
Today was Crafternoon (trademark Lottie) III at our house where we decoupaged, drank and laughed on this amazingly gorgeous London day. How I am going to miss these amazing women and Ro is going to miss his buddies.
